New Nintendo console released in 2024, says analyst

There have been rumors that an upcoming Nintendo console is looming. Several of these rumors have suggested that this console will be a direct successor to the Nintendo Switch, but if you know Nintendo, you’ll know that it rarely takes the predictable path, which would be the Nintendo Switch 2. Whatever the next Nintendo console might be, it clearly won’t. It’s coming out any time soon, or at least that’s what one prominent industry analyst is touting.

The analyst in question is Piers Harding-Rolls of Ampere Analysis, who claims he and his company expect to release the device in 2024. Now, I know what you’re thinking: Who cares about a prediction? Well, this guy and his company are getting paid for their expectations. In other words, this isn’t just some random spit. This information will be fed to customers. Interestingly enough, if true, it gives the Switch some breathing room to pick up the PS2 as the best-selling console of all time.

“Ampere currently expects to launch a next-generation Nintendo console in 2024,” he said. “By the end of that year, the Switch is expected to be sold by 146 million units which means it could still become the best-selling console of all time by the end of its life, selling over 158 million units and surpassing the PlayStation 2.”

It goes without saying this, don’t take this as a definite window because it isn’t. It is an expectation. It’s an informed prediction, but that’s all there is to it. It sounds accurate, however, but if the current microchip crisis isn’t resolved by 2024, there’s a good chance history will be set back down the road.
